Aave is an open-source decentralized lending and borrowing platform DeFi protocol built on top of Ethereum. It enables the users to borrow and lend a wide range of crypto assets without the involvement of any third-party institution like a bank.
Aave means “ghost” in Finnish, therefore, it justifies its logo of a friendly ghost. It adopted a peer-to-contract model in which depositors provide liquidity in the pool of funds to earn interest while the borrowers are allowed easy access to a lump sum amount of funds in exchange for certain interest on the borrowed amount.
